They have been working on amicably co-parenting their three children after announcing their intention to divorce in June.

But it was an 'adults only' affair when Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner spent the evening together on Sunday.

The two stars, who have been married for 10 years, were seen leaving Nobu in Malibu, California after a dinner date, where they were apparently joined by some family members.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Ben and Jennifer – both 43 – arrived at the upscale restaurant at around 9pm and left three hours later.

The website reports that the former couple drove to and from the eatery together and the Gone Girl star was seen opening his estranged wife’s door for her.

While fans of Bennifer II will no doubt hope this means a reunion could be on the cards, it seems the meal may have been just friendly, and there were no public displays of affection between the pair.

The friendly dinner date on Sunday came hours after the exes were pictured having a tense conversation while at a local farmers’ market with their three youngsters – Violet, nine, Seraphina, six, and three-year-old Samuel.
