Man charged for firing shot into air

A young man who allegedly fired a shot in the air when a group of males stopped outside his NSW home has been charged.

No one was injured when the 26-year-old left his Goulburn home late Saturday night allegedly armed with a firearm and shot into the air after six men arrived.

"A search of the house located a homemade rifle and a shortened rifle that was seized for forensic examination," police said.

The man, who's been charged with several offences including using an unauthorised firearm, will remain in custody until he appears at Goulburn Local Court on April 8.
