Despite saying in rehearsals she was struggling with the complicated steps, Bind's performance was flawless.

'My brain is bugging me today!' she said, before explaining 'I just get frustrated with myself because I want to make Derek proud because Derek is phenomenal.

'I can see what I need to do, it's just making the leap from here to there that's the challenge.'

Despite her doubts, Bindi was able to execute a flawless routine, featuring sweeping turns and dramatic dips, and at one point was twirled around the floor by Derek supporting her torso.

'What I just saw was two dancers, dancing as one,' judge Julianne Hough told Bindi and Derek.

'It was so beautiful,' Julianne said, adding: 'What I love so much about you, Bindi, is that you have so many different sides of who you are.'

The night before, Bindi cut a very different figure when she danced to the AC/DC classic You Shook Me All Night Long.

Wearing a black rock-chick-inspired gown, an emotional Bindi, 17, told host Tom Bergeron how her late dad - Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin - had loved the tune and how she remembered dancing to it with him at Australia Zoo.

Appearing to be on the verge of tears, Bindi said 'I remember when I was really little, dancing to that song with dad. It means everything to me,' as the camera cut to an equally emotional Terri Irwin in the audience.
