'I'm promoting breastfeeding': Doutzen Kroes shares a photo of herself pumping milk on Instagram

It's a tender moment shared between mother and child.

And by sharing pictures of themselves breastfeeding celebrities have done much to help normalise the natural process. 

Doutzen Kroestook things a step further on Sunday, when the 30-year-old shared an Instagram snap of her sitting on the couch pumping her milk.

She captioned the snap: 'Daily routine! I'm promoting breastfeeding.

The former Victoria's Secret Angel supermodel is part of a growing number of celebrities and other women who are posting pictures of them breastfeeding their babies, or in this case, pumping, in order to raise awareness of the natural feeding process.

In December of 2013, Gisele Bundchen posted a shot of herself breastfeeding her baby while an all-male glam squad attended to her.

At the time, the Brazilian supermodel became the center of a debate about whether sharing breastfeeding shots on social media was proper.

The snap sparked a handful of celebrities including Alyssa Milano and Jaime King to post their own 'brelfies' online.

And Alyssa certainly has embraced her love of the 'brelfie'.

The 42-year-old posted a picture of herself in March breastfeeding her six-month-old daughter Elizabella as she was getting groomed to co-host The Talk.

The actress posted another brelfie on October 2014 and another one in November of the same year getting styled for a photoshoot.

Last month, Doutzen and her husband Sunnery James were spotted in Miami enjoying a beach holiday together and playing in the warm sunshine.

The couple met in Miami while he was out with friends for his birthday.

Now, the married couple have had two children across their four years of marriage.

The pair have a four-year-old son named Phyllon and an eight-month-old daughter they call Myllena Mae.
