George Michael looks happy and healthy as he makes rare appearance with his partner Fadi Fawaz in Switzerland

George Michael has made a rare appearance in Switzerland with his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz.

The 52-year-old singer looked happy and healthy after his time away from the spotlight, as he and his long-term partner enjoyed a low-key outing in Zurich recently.

The superstar showed off a slightly different look from what fans are used to - notably with shorter hair and his beard heavier - but was instantly recogniseable thanks to his statement specs.

George and Fadi, who have been an item for several years, looked to be heading for an intimate evening out together in the picturesque city.

The couple sported similar ensembles, both in black trousers and blazers with casual footwear, but the singer kept his look monotone with a black top underneath.

They looked in great spirits as they waited outside a venue before making their way in, Fadi seemingly distracted for a while chatting away on his phone.

Meanwhile George, who has stayed away from the public eye this year, was recently forced to hit back at claims that he was addicted to crack cocaine.

Jackie Georgiou, wife of the singer's cousin Andros, told Pete Sampson at The Sun in July she is 'petrified' the former Wham star will die after claiming his alleged binges on crack, cocaine, alcohol and marijuana left him a drug-addled wreck.

But George hit back after the claims were made, writing on Twitter: 'To my lovelies, do not believe this rubbish in the papers today by someone I don't know anymore and haven't seen for nearly 18 years...

'I am perfectly fine and enjoyed Wimbledon like the rest of you. Wish it went to 5 sets though!...Lots of love, The Singing Greek xxx.'

George's tweets came after a shocking interview in which Jackie said: 'He was smoking crack. Before he went away he was he got to the point where he would be shaking, saying, "I need it."'

However, a spokesperson for the star told MailOnline at the time: 'We refer to reports that have appeared in today's newspapers concerning George Michael.

'Whilst it is our general policy not to comment on private matters, we would in this instance note that these highly inaccurate stories have been apparently provided to the press by the wife of a very distant family member, neither of whom has had any dealings with him for many many years.

'It is therefore unsurprising that they are so incorrect. Beyond this we have no further comment to make as the matter is now in the hands of Mr Michael's lawyers.'

Earlier this year, after a long radio silence, he broke his silence on Twitter to thank fans after they bombarded him with well wishes on the milestone on June 25.

He wrote: 'To my lovelies and fans around the world, thank you for all the birthday wishes, I am truly overwhelmed.

'I am looking forward to spending it with friends and family, thanks again, love The Singing Greek!'
