'I was so nervous!': Gigi Hadid, 20, reveals boyfriend Joe Jonas first asked her out when she was 13... and she said no

They have been coined 'G.I. Joe' after their romance blossomed over the summer. 

And Gigi Hadid, 20, has revealed that she actually rejected now boyfriend Joe Jonas, 26, when she was just 13 years old.

The model revealed in a Periscope Q&A: 'We met at the Grammys when I was 13 years old, And he asked me to a baseball game, and I said, "No."'

'I was so nervous; I literally didn't even know what it meant to hang out with a boy,' she explained.

Hinting that Joe perhaps didn't know how young the budding model was at the time, she added: 'And also, Grammys are on a Sunday, and I didn't want to tell him that I had school the next day, so I was like, "No, maybe next time."

A six year age gap between the couple means that when Gigi was 13, Joe was 19, but as ET Online explained, Gigi may have got the details mixed up.

The blonde runway star was not pictured at the 2009 awards show, only the 2010 one - which she attended with parents David and Yolanda Foster.

Therefore, Gigi was likely 14 at the time.

However, it's likely that Joe didn't realize Gigi's age, as the blonde beauty remembered that the persistent actor 'wrote his number on a piece of paper and gave it to my mom,'

While at an after party for the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas this past weekend, Joe gave an adorable reaction when hearing his girlfriend's name in a word association game.

Joe responded 'Happiness' when the reporter said 'Gigi'.

The duo have been almost inseparable this summer, being pictured together looking affectionate out and about in New York.

The couple were first spotted together in May, shortly after Gigi split with Australian crooner Cody Simpson.
