Vic thief returns to scene of the crime

A teenager has been charged with armed robbery after he returned to the same outer Melbourne car park where he allegedly tried to steal a car hours earlier, threatening the driver with a small axe.

Detectives were called to the Werribee shopping centre car park on Sunday morning after reports the armed teenager had tried to steal a car.

When the 32-year-old victim refused to get out of the car, the alleged offender took the mans car keys and ran off.

Police viewing CCTV footage of the incident identified the person on the live CCTV feed and arrested a 17-year-old boy from Point Cook.

He was bailed by police to appear in a children's court at a later date charged with armed robbery and theft-related offences.
