With armies of eagle-eyed fashion critics ever on alert for a fashion faux pas, getting dressed for the red carpet is more fraught than ever before.
Unsurprisingly, more than a few A-listers have now offloaded the tricky job of picking out the perfect premiere ensemble onto stylists – and the best are so popular, getting them on board is tough even for the starriest of Hollywood celebs.
From veteran Rachel Zoe to Petra Flannery and Kate Young, meet the power list of stylists on every celebrity’s speed dial.
Looking good: Stars like Jennifer Lawrence rely on stylists to ensure they look good on the red carpet
RACHEL ZOE
Not only does Rachel Zoe have a list of clients as long as her arm, her trademark bohemian styling became a trend in itself back in the mid-noughties.
Known as the ‘Zoe-bots’, her signature look involved figure-skimming tops teamed with skinny jeans, super-sized sunglasses and carefully chosen jewellery.
PETRA FLANNERY
Named the world’s most powerful stylist by the Hollywood Reporter in March, Flannery, 43, began her career as a model agent but soon switched sides.
Petra's classic-with-a-twist signature style has won her a lengthy list of clients, among them Claire Danes, Mila Kunis and Gwen Stefani (L-R)
Top of their game: Rachel Zoe, left, started trends of her own while Petra Flannery is a serious power player
Now a serious power player, her classic-with-a-twist signature style has won her a lengthy list of clients, among them Claire Danes, Mila Kunis and Gwen Stefani.
LEITH CLARK
She’s only 36 but Leith Clark has already packed what looks like several careers onto her not inconsiderable CV.
Leith Clark regularly styles campaigns for big name brands and styles Keira Knightley among others
After beginning her career as a fashion assistant on Vogue, Clark went on to found her own magazine, Lula, in 2005 before leaving 18 months later to found another, Violet.
When not doing that, she is style director at large at Harper’s Bazaar, regularly styles campaigns for big name brands and styles Keira Knightley, Clemence Poesy and Alexa Chung, among several others, for the red carpet.
KATE YOUNG
With her sharp, platinum blonde bob and penchant for sharp black tailoring, Kate Young, 39, is nothing if not consistent – something that hasn’t gone unnoticed by her celebrity clients.
Both Natalie Portman (left) and Rachel Weisz (right) are fans of Kate Young and her legendary tailoring
Kate Young is rarely seen wearing anything other than her trademark black (left) while Katie Grand (right) has launched two magazines and is currently collaborating with Hogan
After a stint as Anna Wintour’s assistant at US Vogue, she graduated to Sittings Editor before going on to work as a freelance stylist for a slew of glossy magazines.
Now one of the most sought-after stylists come Oscars night, regular clients include Natalie Portman, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Emilia Clark.
KATIE GRAND
Both stylist and fashion journalist, Love magazine editor Katie Grand, 44, is still one of the coolest stylists in the business and counts Kate Moss and Madonna among her personal friends.
Along with her army of A-list friends, Grand has also styled a number of major fashion advertising campaign and designs an accessories range for Hogan – modelled by Cara Delevingne no less.
ELIZABETH STEWART
Los Angeles-based Stewart is one of Tinsel Town’s heaviest sartorial hitters and has the client list to match.
Among her A-list fans are January Jones, Julia Roberts, Jessica Chastain, Cate Blanchett and Amanda Seyfried to name but a few.
Prior to finding fame as a stylist, Stewart spent several years in Paris as W Magazine’s Paris Fashion Editor before spending 14 years at the New York Times.
Among Stewart's A-list fans are Julia Roberts (left) and January Jones (right) to name but a few
MICAELA ERLANGER
Just 29-years-old, New Yorker Micaela Erlanger is fast becoming a fashion force to be reckoned with thanks in no small part to her friendship with Lupita Nyong’o.
Along with the spectacular ice-blue Prada gown worn to last year’s Oscars, Erlanger also was behind the dramatic red Ralph Lauren worn by the Kenyan actress to the Golden Globes the same year.

Another client is Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery who wore an Erlanger ensemble to the BAFTAS earlier this year.
ILARIA URBINATI
One of the few stylists to boast a significant male following, Urbinati’s client list includes Bradley Cooper, Ben Affleck and Chris Evans among others.
When not sharpening up the boys, the Los Angeles based stylist has a formidable female client base to care for, among them Nina Dobrev, Lizzy Caplan and Emma Stone.
Urbinati’s client list reads like a Who's Who of Hollywood, and includes A list actress Emma Stone (pictured)

LESLIE FREMAR
No stranger to Oscars dressing, New York based Leslie Fremar has styled some of the biggest names in Hollywood and is famous for producing show-stopping red carpet looks.
Leslie Fremar was responsible for the elegant gowns worn by Julianne Moore (left) and Reese Witherspoon (right) at last year's Oscars
Last year’s Oscars saw her usher not one but two clients, Julianne Moore and Reese Witherspoon, onto the red carpet and into the best-dressed lists.
