Caitlyn Jenner 'won't be prosecuted for manslaughter' following fatal car crash in February following ruling over 'negligent' actions

It has been claimed that Caitlyn Jenner will not be prosecuted for manslaughter.

The reality TV star - known previously as Bruce Jenner before undergoing a gender transition earlier this year - was involved in a fatal car crash in February that saw 69-year-old Kim Howe lose her life.

Prosecutors had been trying to determine whether they would charge Jenner with misdemeanour manslaughter for her role in the crash but, according to TMZ, she will now not face being charged with vehicular manslaughter.

The site claims to have information from 'well-placed sources' in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office that state those reviewing the case have decided her actions were negligent, rather than criminal.

It's also claimed that those in the know within the case are relying on the - LA County Sheriff's Department - who came to the same decision - but that the District Attorney, Jackie Lacey, could ignore these conclusions and decide to take the TV star to court regardless.

However, it's thought that such a ruling would be highly unlikely.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department had been investigating Jenner in connection with the deadly multi-car crash that took place in Malibu, California eight months ago.

The crash killed Howe, who sheriff's officials say was driving a white Lexus and was shoved by Jenner's vehicle across a center divider into oncoming traffic, where her car was struck head-on by a Hummer.

In a revealing interview with TV's Matt Lauer earlier this month, Jenner said she could not say much about the crash as she is involved in litigation.

The 65-year-old was driving a Cadillac Escalade and towing a trailer carrying an off-road vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway when she rear-ended the Lexus being driven by Howe.

It had previously been established that Jenner was not using her phone at the time of the crash, and police have stated that she was driving within the speed limit.

However, the star did admit her fears over possibly being sent to Los Angeles Men's County Jail should she be charged with the crime.

Speaking with Lauer as the two played a round of golf, the former Olympian did admit that the trauma of the car accident is something that will never go away, but was firm in saying that she was travelling under the speed limit of 50mph at the time of the crash.

'I remember it happening. That's about it,' said the I Am Cait star of the crash during the interview.

'A tragedy like this, you'll never get over it. You just learn to live with it the best you possibly can.'

She then addressed the possibility she could in fact land in jail.

'The media wants that picture, don't they?' she said, of her potential mugshot.

She then got serious however, saying; 'That is the worst case scenario. I don't know. We'll see. The Men's County Jail. It is an enormous problem that they would put trans-women in Men's County Jail.'

Helping Jenner's case is an $18.5million lawsuit that was just filed against Howe's estate by the passengers of another car in the accident, who claim that she was the negligent driver.
