Rise of the Cinderella boob-job: New 20-minute technique promises to plump up breasts by up to two cup sizes using saline solution... but it only lasts for one night

  • Technique developed in the US is said to be popular with A-list celebrities
  • Procedure involves injecting half a litre of saline into breasts
  • Effects last 24 hours before saline dissolves into the body
  • UK plastic surgeon says procedure could be painful and is unregulated

Celebrities in the US determined to perfect their red carpet look are said to be turning to a new procedure that promises to boost breast size... but only for one night.

Dr Norman Rowe, a New York plastic surgeon, is said to be behind the new technique, which involves injecting around half a litre of sterile saline solution into the breast area.

The procedure takes just 20 minutes and can see breasts pumped up to around two cup sizes bigger.

The appeal for those who can afford the injection, said to cost up to £1,600 a go, is that the technique is quick to do and offers just a temporary boost, something which is attracting young A-listers who don't want to go under the knife but do want results similar to those offered by surgery, albeit only for a special occasion.

Although the stars who've opted for a Cinderella-style transformation for a red carpet event haven't spoken publicly about about their love of the new treatment, Hollywood insiders claim famous faces such as Miley Cyrus and Kendall Jenner could be fans.

However, Nilesh Sojitra, a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Cosmetic Surgeons London, warns against the technique: 'A procedure like this would involve being injected with a significant-sized needle, which could cause bleeding. It could cause a large bruise and could potentially cause a large pool of blood inside the body.'

He adds: 'Because it's an unregulated procedure, there are no studies showing how the saline solution might interact with breast tissue and cells.'

Although the procedure is already being offered in the US, those who have it can't always be sure of exactly what they're being injected with.

Mr Sojitra explains: 'It's a saline solution but it's like fillers; without regulation we have no idea what is actually being put in there.'

Will it be available in the UK? He continues: 'A bona-fide, accredited plastic surgeon wouldn't offer an unregulated procedure such as this but you may get some clinics prepared to offer it because it has the potential to make money for them; there's a large population [of women] who'd want it.'

Three years ago, Macrolane, a filler similarly marketed as a 'lunchtime boob jab' was withdrawn from sale following claims that 25 per cent of patients suffered complications after the treatment.

Doctors also expressed fears that the filler made it more difficult to spot tumours in standard mammogram scans.
