Bad boy Callum Logan meets a sticky end at the hands of Kylie Platt in Coronation Street live episode… as David and Sarah Louise help cover up the crime

The Platt family’s ongoing drama with Callum Logan came to a head on Wednesday night’s explosive live episode of Coronation Street.

Weatherfield’s resident bad boy met a sticky end during the special edition of the ITV soap, which involved 12 days of rehearsals and the assistance of over 400 crew members to perfect, thankfully taking place without a glitch.

The action kicked off with drug dealer Callum holding Sarah Louise Platt hostage in her own living room, threatening to hurt her if her brother David and his wife Kylie didn’t cough up the cash he’d asked for.

Callum has hated David since arriving on the street, struggling to watch his rival raise his young son Max with his ex Kylie, but had promised to leave for good if he was given the £20,000 he wanted.

Nail-biting scenes saw Sarah and Callum involved in a violent struggle and it seemed the blonde beauty wouldn't escape his clutches alive – until Kylie made a surprise return from the Rovers Return to save the day.

She bashed her ex over the head with a wrench as he tried to strangle Sarah, leaving him for dead on the Platt’s living room floor, with a pool of dark blood forming around his head.

‘I hated him, but I loved him once’, she declared, looking down at Callum's body.

While Sarah panicked and tried to call for an ambulance, Kylie was adamant they shouldn’t get the police involved, instead phoning David to help them dispose of the body and cover up the murder.

David quickly concocted a cunning plan – wrapping up the body in one of Max’s bedsheets and attempting to dispose of it in his late nemesis' own car.

‘He had lots of people after him, so the fact that he’s turned up dead, it could have been anyone', he said. 'I’m going to take him in his car and take him for a little swim.’

But their grand scheme was thwarted when Tony and Todd spotted Callum’s car on the street and decided to wreak revenge on the bad boy by taking it for a joyride, leaving it at a remote location before setting fire to the vehicle in a spectacular live explosion.

Upon discovering the missing car, a distraught Kylie tried to flee the crime scene, but David quickly put a stop to it. ‘I’m the guilty one!’, she cried while packing a getaway bag.

David delivered a passionate speech, imploring his wife, ‘Think of the kids! Who’s going to be there for them? They need us. I need us. Callum's not going to take you away from me, not again.’

Despite constant interruptions from angry neighbour Yasmeen Nazir complaining about all the noise they were making, the Platts managed to get away with the crime – at least for the time being.

A distressed Sarah almost gave the game away, sobbing hysterically as she struggled to compose herself, but level-headed David covered their tracks by sending her back to the pub, where she was supposed to be bar tending at Lloyd’s farewell party.

‘You have got to get your head on or we’ll all end up in jail. I’ll sort it, I’Il dispose of him miles away from here’, David warned his sister.

Unable to leave the house for fear of being seen, the only solution was to hide Callum's body under the floorboards of Gail's garage until the morning.

'This time yesterday, we were terrified he was going to hurt us or Max, or my grandma. This time tomorrow we’ll have him miles away from here, I promise', David told an anxious Kylie.

Elsewhere on the live show, there was plenty of romantic drama as Tim Metcalfe discovered his partner Sally Webster’s fling with her ex-husband Kevin.

The pair had a huge public showdown when intoxicated Anna Windass let slip that she’d seen Sally ‘snogging Kevin’s face off’.

As Sally was tearfully consoled by her daughter Sophie, a jealous Tim turned up at Anna’s house seeking comfort in the wake of the revelation.

Viewers also saw Roy Cropper grappling with his everlasting feelings for his late wife Hayley, which all came to a head when new girlfriend Cathy Matthews tried to book him a trip to Blackpool as a birthday surprise.

The pair kissed and made up in emotional scenes as kind-hearted Cathy told the café owner, ‘I don’t want to trample all over your memories Roy.’

But it wasn’t all bad news, since the episode also saw Weatherfield’s residents bid a fond farewell to Lloyd Mullaney and his pregnant partner Andrea Beckett.

The cabbie delivered an emotional speech to his nearest and dearest at the pub, declaring, ‘Ten years I’ve been at this bar… you can see the elbow dents. You guys have been my family I suppose. I guess I’m just saying goodbye to one family and starting another.’
