Make-up free Claire Danes works up a sweat as she showcases toned legs during brisk jog through LA

From the red carpet to filming her hit show Homeland in Berlin, it been a action-packed few months for Claire Danes.

But the 36-year-old leading lady put her fitness first when she hit the pavement for a rigorous jog in Los Angeles on Wednesday. 

Claire wore little more than a royal blue tank top and tight black shorts when she broke a sweat, displaying her toned body to full effect.

Claire sensibly slicked her light blonde hair back high and no-fuss bun, and she appeared to skip the makeup routine.

The My So-Called Life actress was tuned in entirely into her music as she ran across the pavement, keeping it comfortable in a pair of black trainers.

Claire maintained a steady pace through the upmarket community, and couldn't help but break a sweat amidst LA's warm temperatures.

The jogger has previously discussed her approach to health and fitness, and admitted to Shape that she isn't opposed to cheating on her clean diet from time to time.

'I eat in moderation and try not to worry about it. I mean, I'm young, healthy, and I think every now and then it's good to indulge the soul...I try to eat sensibly. I cheat, but for the most part I eat in a clean way,' she said.

For Claire, the benefits of fitness extend beyond her body.

Meanwhile, Claire missed out on an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series over the weekend.

The actress plays CIA agent Carrie Mathison in the Showtime series, which will soon be entering its fifth season.

The upcoming season kicks off two years since the events of season four, and Carrie is working at a private security firm in Berlin.

Fans in the US will have to wait until October 4 for new episodes of the series, which will air on Sundays at 9pm on Showtime.
