'I can get lonely sometimes': Natalie Imbruglia admits she is still single... seven years after divorcing Daniel Johns

Time may heal all wounds, but Natalie Imbruglia admits she still gets lonely - seven years after her divorce from Silverchair rocker Daniel Johns.

The singer, who is currently single,  has been linked to a string of eligible suitors following their split and subsequent divorce in 2008, but despite her continued popularity she admits the separation from Johns has made her more resolute in her desire to be alone – despite the inevitable consequences.

‘Standing on my own two feet for so long has made me self-sufficient,’ she told OK! Australia. ‘I’m a survivor. And sure, I can get lonely sometimes, but then you can get lonely in a crowd.’

As the dust settled on her divorce, Natalie – who became a British citizen in 2013 – enjoyed living her life beneath the radar, but she bats away any notion that she has remained hopelessly single.

‘I have been in love and had relationships, you just don’t hear about it because I’m a private person,’ she insisted.

The Torn singer – previously been linked to One Direction star Harry Styles and British comedian David Walliams – admits one of the fundamental problems in finding anything lasting is her attraction to bad boys, and her own habit of charging into relationships head-first.

Regardless, she hopes to one day settle down and start a family – and doesn’t view her age as a barrier to having children.

‘I’m not worried by the ticking clock,’ she said earlier this year. ‘I’m fit and healthy. I’ve still got time.’

For now, Natalie's priority is personal and professional happiness as she continues to live her life in London while promoting her fifth studio album, Male - a collection of cover versions originally performed by some of her favourite male artists.

The album climbed to number 20 on the UK chart and 25 in her native Australia - but she insists she is no longer concerned by record sales.

'Spiritually, I'm not a careerist anymore,' she said. 'For me, happiness is success. All I want to do is be happy.

'I don't care about anything else. If that means giving up work and going to live in a commune, so be it.'
