The emissions scandal engulfing Volkswagen, which has cost billions and led to the resignation of its chief executive, Martin Winterkorn, is the latest in a long line to hit the German car maker going back three decades. Footage of the incident, which took place in the capital Paris, shows a man and woman wrestling the homeless man to the ground as the terrified puppy tries to hide beneath its owner's suitcases. The video was uploaded to Facebook earlier this week by eyewitness Nghi Le Duc and has since been viewed more than 1.7 million times and shared by 26,000 people. Dressing up as a zombie, Tzapaev, from Nizhniy Novgorod, western Russia, positioned himself in a dark and isolated alleyway. But when he jumped out at a man walking past (pictured top left), his intended victim simply punched him to the ground with a big right hook (top and bottom right), withdrew an air gun, then shot him in the leg as he begged for his life (bottom left).

Alien hunters claim to have spotted a stone circle in images (pictured left and top right) sent back by the HiRise camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which they claim resembles Stonehenge (bottom right) in Wiltshire, England. However, experts have warned that stone circles can also form naturally in permafrost that regularly thaws and defrosts.
