Michael B. Jordan addresses Kendall Jenner dating rumours as he describes fan backlash as 'so weird'

He had rumour mills in overdrive when he was spotted leaving a Met Gala party with Kendall Jenner in May.

And finally addressing the speculation, Michael B. Jordan, 28, speaks to GQ about his reaction to the backlash he received after being seen with the 19-year-old model - specifically from his black fans.

'Kendall's a friend of mine, you know. I don't know her, like, that well, but I know her enough. People's perspective on that is what it is. I don't f***ing know. I don't live my life to make other people happy.'

The Fantastic Four star expressed his frustration at the situation: 'It's the world we live in. They see white and black. I don't,

'It's so weird, though, right? A lot of black fans were feeling like "Oh, my god, he should have been with a black woman" and that whole thing.'

On the cover of the new issue, the actor is seen in a white cotton shirt which fits snugly over his athletic torso, along with a stylish gingham print suit.

He flashes his pearly whites as he tosses his jacket over his shoulder in classic GQ-gent fashion.

Jordan leaves no doubt about the level of his drive to succeed when he reveals he made a pact with himself to hustle in his 20s.

'Um, I try and be focused. I told myself at a young age that I would sacrifice all my twenties to my work.'

And naturally that means for the handsome star that dating has had to take a backseat.

'I understand what females want and need, you know. I'm good at that. I don't know if I'm the guy to give it to them right now.

The Friday Night Lights star also talks about his childhood and growing up in poverty in Newark - which has kept the actor grounded.

'When you come from that background, all this extra stuff is just…extra stuff, you know? If somebody’s not real with you, you can tell.

'I come from nothing, so it's like my family, they came with me…I put everything I had into everything, so once they're good I can start living a little.'

The October issue of GQ hits newsstands nationally September 28 and also features Ryan Reynolds and Rob Lowe on separate covers.
