Kate Walsh has split from longtime writer-producer boyfriend Chris Case.

The couple reportedly parted ways a couple of months ago and a source has revealed of the break-up 'it was amicable'

The duo, both 47, started dating in 2011.

Us Weekly reports an insider as saying 'They are just in different places in their lives and it wasn't working. Kate has been upset but trying to get over it.'

During an an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 6, Kate joked about Chris' severe allergy to her cats.

She also revealed that the pair were developing a new show together.

The Private Practice actress said: 'My boyfriend's highly allergic and it's ridiculous,'

'His tune changed once we were like, "Maybe there's some sort of job here for these cats" And suddenly his tune started to change. We are making an animated series called Cat Stories'

Amicable: The couple - who had been dating since 2011 - split a couple of months ago according to sources

Relaxed: The couple were seen at LAX on May 17, about a month after their last red carpet appearance together

The couple's last red carpet appearance came in April at the Chrysler John Varvatos 12th Annual Stuart House Benefit in L.A.

And they were also pictured at LAX together on May 17.

Kate stepped out in West Hollywood on Monday for a spot of pampering at Kate Somerville Spa.

The former Grey's Anatomy star showed off her lean limbs in a black shirt dress and had her red locks tied into a casual bun.

Kate is currently enjoying some down time before she heads to the UK for her next project, the British-produced drama Everything Carries Me To You.

In it she stars alongside Downton Abbey actress Jessica Brown Findlay and The Americans' Matthew Rhys.

Chris was executive producer for Yahoo! Screen series Sin City Saints which premiered in March.

Kate and Chris worked as producing partners and created a number of TV series together, but none so far have been picked up.

The actress was previously married to movie executive Alex Young, though the couple split in 2008 after 15 months of marriage.
