Chris Martin hoped to go unnoticed as he was spotted for the first time since his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow and her new boyfriend Brad Falchuk gave their relationship the Instagram seal of approval.

The Coldplay frontman attempted to disguise himself as he enjoyed a shirtless run around the Malibu area of California with a male friend on Wednesday.

It looked like the rocker's pal had ended up a bit muddy during a press-up session as he had a dry brown patch down his chest.

Chris, 38, shielded his face from the blazing afternoon sun and preying paps with a blue cap which featured a red square-shaped patch on the left side.

Meanwhile, Chris is thought to be single since August after having split from lovable Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence.

He was spotted putting on a flirty display with a pretty blonde - whose identity is unknown - at Rolling Stone magazine's bash in Montauk, New York, last month.

While there was nothing to suggest any romantic involvement with the lady, Chris appeared to be having a whale of a time on the dancefloor. At the time, MailOnline contacted a rep for further comment.

Although they've not released a single since Miracles in 2014, Chris and fellow Coldplay members - Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion - are doing a series of gigs.

Most recently, they performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday last week and are taking to the stage at the Global Citizen Festival (co-founded by Chris) in New York on Saturday.
