What an Iron Man! Robert Downey Jr takes care of heavy lifting after grocery shopping with wife Susan and baby daughter Avri

He has made his mark in recent years playing comic book character Tony Stark, who is otherwise known as The Iron Man.

And it looked like Robert Downey Jr was taking care of the heavy lifting in real life on Wednesday, when he visited the Farmers Market in Malibu.

The actor, 50, went for a bright ensemble, wearing a purple T-shirt, orange reflective sunglasses and a matching cap.

His trainers were also of a vibrant tangerine hue.

Eve the gentleman he carried the shopping bags for the pair. 

However his wife of 10 years, Susan, was doing some heavy lifting of her own carrying the couple's 10-month-old daughter Avri.

She was wearing a casual outfit of orange shorts and a white patterned loose shirt.

The pair, who have a three-year-old son called Exton, celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary last month have had quite the decade.

It has seen Robert, go from comeback kid to international movie star.

In addition, the pair also started the Team Downey production company together in 2010, which released its first film The Judge in 2014 to mixed reviews.

The pair met when they worked together on the 2003 Halle Berry supernatural horror vehicle Gothika, which the actor quipped on Inside The Actor's Studio was most memorable to him because he was 'romancing the producer.'

Susan got in a gag of her own on the same show when she said first impression of the actor was he was 'weird.'

Dogged Robert persuaded the then Miss Levin to join him for a date despite suffering two knockbacks, and they got engaged in November that year when he proposed the night before her birthday.

It was almost two years later when they got married on August 2005 in a Jewish ceremony in New York.

Since they got wed he has became the world's top actor, and he has credited his wife for all of his success, including helping him stay sober after addictions to drink and drugs derailed his career in the past.

The Sherlock Holmes favourite previously said: 'The old saying is true, behind every good man there's an incredible woman.

'I owe a huge amount, if not all, of my success to Susan. We make a great team, and all that luck I spoke about, that's Susan.'
