No more Hairy Potter! Daniel Radcliffe reveals shaved head as he prepares for new film role as a Neo-Nazi infiltrator

Daniel Radcliffe has shaved his head for a new role.

The 26-year-old actor, best known for his star turn as Harry Potter, revealed his striking new appearance on his Google+ page, explaining that it's for a new part in upcoming film Imperium.

He wrote: 'Hi Everyone. Here's the first look of me as FBI agent Nate Foster in IMPERIUM.

'We began filming the movie this week. I'm very excited about it and will tell you more about it soon! Dan.'

The image shows the handsome star with a skinhead and devoid of facial hair - a style he has favoured in recent months - while wearing a slim-fitting army camouflage sweater.

It bore a stark contrast to one of his most recent public outings at Comic-Con in mid-July, which saw him sporting a full head of unruly hair, and a shaggy, heavy beard and moustache.

Over the years, Daniel hasn't shied away from a variety of different 'dos, having sported a fair few looks in his teen and young adult years on the Harry Potter movies.

He's gone from having a cute bowl-cut to a shaggy mid-length crop on the fourth movie in the hit franchise, and in more recent years he has shown himself to be handsome with a beard.

Imperium will see newly-bald Daniel trade wizardry for undercover antics as an FBI agent trying to infiltrate a group of Neo-Nazis in order to stop them from creating a dirty bomb.

The film, directed by short filmmaker Daniel Ragussis (who is making Imperium his debut feature production), is based on the true story and experiences of undercover agent Michael German, who co-wrote the script with the director.

Filming on the hard-hitting new movie is set to begin later in autumn, but it means that Daniel has a hectic schedule ahead, as it's not the only project on which he's currently working.

Daniel has recently been seen filming scenes for another film, an india comedy-drama called Swiss Army Man, in which he portrays a hopeless man stranded in the wilderness who befriends a dead body and takes off on a surreal journey to make it back to his home.

He has also been toiling away on a handful of other projects, most notably Victor Frankenstein, in which he appears with fellow British acting stalwart James McAvoy.

The star famously rocked another striking and surprising hairstyle for his role in the monster movie, based on Mary Shelley's iconic novel, which will see him play Igor, the assistant to McAvoy's Victor Frankenstein.

He shocked fans when he first debuted his mid-length, tatty looking hair - created by extensions rather than growing it out - in 2013 while the film was being shot.

During an appearance on Graham Norton in 2013, he explained of his not-so-luscious locks: 'It's from a dead person or someone who has donated their hair.'
