She's somewhat of a style chameleon and it appears Rita Ora's penchant for experimenting stretches beyond her wardrobe.

The X Factor judge unveiled a freshly-cut pixie crop to her huge social-media following on Wednesday as she shot a high-fashion shoot for the Canadian version of glossy mag Elle.

Rita, 24, worked a steely pout as she revealed the new look for the first time in an obligatory behind-the-scenes selfie.

Chop Right Now: Rita Ora has swapped her long glossy tresses for an edgy pixie crop which she unveiled to her huge social-media following on Wednesday

Dressed in a canary yellow bomber jacket with chainmail embellishments, the Hot Right Now hit-maker slightly turned her head to the side in the pretty self-portrait.

Rita played it characteristically cool by making no big deal of her edgy bowl-style barnet - which featured a jagged full fringe - as she failed to make any reference to the fact she'd cut off most of her hair (or simply taken out her extensions) in the accompanying caption.

'Behind-the-scenes selfie at the shoot,' she wrote alongside the image posted on her Twitter account.

Rita Ora has only gone and got herself a pixie crop, just ahead of the X Factor live shows. Hands up if you can't wait to see what judges Rita Ora and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini will choose to wear every Saturday night!

The striking new look delighted her plus-five-million followers who were quick to complement her on her decision to have the chop.

'Beauty queen,' one wrote with another particularly impressed user adding: 'YOU LOOK HOT AF.'

An additional image, posted on the Body On Me songstress' Instagram page, showed her looking every inch the rock chick thanks to the new 'do, a bold red lip, a pair of stud-rim sunglasses and a leather biker jacket as she posed alongside the photographer who was tasked with capturing her for the upcoming Elle spread.

'Thanks for an amazing shoot @maxabadian I can't wait for the world to see what we've done! See you on the January cover in the new year!! @ellecanada,' she wrote in the caption, expressing her excitement.

Last outing with her long locks: The Body On Me hit-maker sported a head full of sweeping blonde hair for her appearance at a basketball game on Sunday

The look was a marked changed from Rita's latest appearance which saw her introduce the Power 106 All Stars Game at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, at the weekend.

Taking to the court, the only thing the 24-year-old was missing was a pair of pom-poms as she donned a black and white cheerleading uniform which unveiled the true extent of her slight frame.

Arriving at the venue with all the confidence in the world, looked great in the thigh-skimming pleated skirt, skin-tight long-sleeved crop top and a pair of classic adidas trainers.

It's not the first time the chart star has favoured short hair as she sported a similar style at the Grammy Awards in February this year and debuted a funky take on the classic bob in the same month in 2014.
