He released a snippet of the track earlier this week to tease fans.

And now singer Sam Smith, 23, has finally unveiled the theme tune to the new James Bond film Spectre, titled Writing's On The Wall.

Speaking on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw on Friday morning, the Grammy-Award winning vocalist revealed he wrote it so quickly because he didn't feel under pressure.

He explained: 'I haven’t really felt pressure at all with Bond until the last few days actually because I’m just so nervous about what people are going to think about it.'

The London-born star - who shot to fame after featuring on the Disclosure track Latch in 2012 - told X Factor judge Grimmy that he doesn't reckon it'll get to number one.

He said: 'I don’t think it’s a number one friendly song if you know what I mean. Who knows, but I don’t think it will at all, but I’m not looking for that.'

He follows acclaimed singers including Adele and Dame Shirley Bassey.

He wrote to his 3.57million fans: 'I have been dreaming of this moment for a long long time.

'Thank you for all your amazing messages. Today is such a special day for me and I am so grateful to everyone supporting this track xx'.

He also spoke on the Capital FM Breakfast Show and when asked about whether he'd love to win an Oscar for it - like Adele did - he said: 'It's not even something I'm thinking about.

'I'm excited for people to hear it and I hope it just does the film and the legacy justice.'

He recently revealed it took him only 20 minutes to write the highly-anticipated theme song.

The Stay With Me singer delighted James Bond fans on Monday when he shared a video sneak-peek of the Spectre track on his Twitter page.

Alongside a snippet of the track, he wrote: 'Four days! Thanks to everyone pre-ordering, can't wait for you to hear Writing's On The Wall.'

Sam first confirmed he had been chosen to provide the acclaimed music track for the latest 007 installment earlier in the month after initially denying all speculation.

Finally coming clean, he announced the news again on his Twitter page with help from a photo of his hand clad with a Spectre-logo ring.

Calling it one of the highlights of his career, he added: 'I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations.'

Opening up about the 007 experience to pal Nick Grimshaw the following day, the Omen hit-maker said it had been a 'top secret mission' of his own, admitting it was the quickest he'd even penned a song.

He began: 'I'm so relieved to actually talk about this, this has been a top secret mission of my own.

'It's the quickest I've ever written a song - it took 20 minutes - and they loved it. I love the song so much.'

A four-time Grammy Award winner with five No1s under his belt, Sam becomes the first British male solo singer of a James Bond theme song since 1965.

There was fervent speculation that he was involved in the track earlier in the year but it was previously shot down by the singer when he told Capital FM's Dave Berry and Lisa Snowdon in July that he 'had no idea what is going on'.

He explained: 'People seem to think I'm doing it but I have no idea what's going on. I'm being deadly serious. I think I would know by now.'

He added that believed singer Ellie Goulding was going to record it, though he revealed to BBC Radio 2's Chris Evans that producers only told him the news six weeks ago, to avoid a leak.
