Fighting fit! Ruby Rose shows off her toned legs in fitted shorts as she heads to a workout during filming for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in South Africa

She'll have to keep up with action woman Milla Jovovich on the set of her latest film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

So it's no surprise that in between shooting scenes in South Africa, Ruby Rose made time to pop into a local gym.

Looking very fit and trim as is, the Australian actress and model was seen showing off her toned legs while spotted out in Cape Town on Wednesday.

The Orange Is The New Black star looked ready to go in a T-shirt, patterned short shorts and compression leggings as she headed for her session.

Her cropped locks were tucked away under a cap and she wore a pair of gold framed shades to block out the sun.

The 29-year-old had to forgo an appearance alongside her OITNB castmates at the Emmy awards this week after it was announced she will be featuring in the next and final film in the Resident Evil franchise.

On Thursday she shared a couple of snaps of herself getting into character for the action-horror and was seen sporting a very unusual hair style.

Ruby's normally slicked back tresses were twirled into dreadlocks in a gravity defying style while her neck was covered in blotchy body makeup.

'Medusa monkey ( fear not, my neck is fine.. Hair is just a bi-product of today.. I'm shooting RESIDENT EVIL GUYS.. you expect me to be clean/bruise/dirt/fun free ?),' she wrote on Instagram.

According to Variety magazine, Ruby's new film will pick up after the events of the fifth instalment in the franchise, Retribution.

It will see Milla's character, Alice, as 'the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes', join forces with her old friends, which could be where Ruby comes into the picture, allowing her to show off her rough and tumble skills. 

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is set for release in cinemas, January 2017.
