'Those flowers took two double doors -  we had to open them to get them in. I love it. I love being at the receiving end of all of her big gifts. I drank all the champagne - only kidding!'

She then told the presenter 'I always look it up online to see how much it costs. That's real tacky of me I know. And then I drink it real slow.

Keep it chic in a monochrome maxi like Viola

The Emmy Awards were a veritable sartorial feast, where the stars of the big screen pulled out all the stops in the style stakes.

And while we loved all the bold colors and statement print gowns on the red carpet, Viola Davis reminded us why sometimes you can’t beat classic monochrome.

We loved Viola's chic black-and-white gown. The racer neckline gave it a sporty edge; meanwhile the floor-sweeping A-line skirt made it red carpet worthy.

It’s by American designer Carmen Marc Valvo who specializes in evening wear and high-end cocktail dresses. In short, the perfect designer to create a bespoke red carpet dress for you!

But while you can’t buy this one-off creation, you can shop the current collection online by following the link on the right. Alternatively, emulate Viola’s classic style with one of the picks from our edit below.
