£3million Taylor can't outsell the Stones! Mick and co top league of biggest earners in pop
- When it comes to money-spinning tours the Rolling Stones are still strong
- They earn more in ticket sales from each city than any other act
- Young rival Taylor Swift is ranked second - earning around £3.3million ($5million) per gig
- Those hailing from the 1960s dominate a list of the 20 most lucrative acts
With a combined age of 285, you might think they are past their prime.
When it comes to money-spinning tours, however, it seems the Rolling Stones are still going from strength to strength.
Research has revealed they earn more in ticket sales from each city they play in than any other act – including young rivals such as Taylor Swift, who is ranked second.
Lead singer of British rock band The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger performs on stage during a concert in Vienna, Austria, 16 June 2014
The 25-year-old made an average of £3.3million per gig in the last three months, falling far short of the £5.1million raked in by Mick Jagger, 72, and his band of vintage rockers.
And they are not the only veteran group still gaining satisfaction at the ticket office.
Those hailing from the 1960s dominate a list of the 20 most lucrative acts compiled by industry publication Pollstar.

Fleetwood Mac still make the cut, as do Bette Midler, Neil Diamond and Mark Knopfler. The 1970s fare less well, with only one act from the decade gracing the list – Herbert Grönemeyer, a singer popular in Germany.
The Stones’ success when it comes to ticket sales is largely down to the price – an average of £113.54, compared to the £74.54 it costs to see Swift perform. The cheapest average ticket price was for rapper Nicki Minaj, 32, who charged only £29.66.
The Stones, who have a combined personal wealth of more than £500million, recently completed their Zip Code tour of the US and Canada.
