They have been working together on and off ever since they co-wrote and co-starred in the drama Good Will Hunting in 1997.

Now Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have added another project to their combined slate.

The Oscar winners will produce the HBO movie Thirst, which is set against the backdrop of the global water crisis, Deadline reported Friday.

'We are extremely pleased to continue our collaboration with Matt and Ben,' HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo said.

'As two of today’s most gifted filmmakers, they are once again using their cinematic talents to bring awareness to this pressing global issue.'

The project is in development.

It will be written by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond) and directed by Elliott Lester (Blitz).

'Both Elliott and Chuck are creative forces who bring an extraordinary vision to the material and we are very excited to be a part of it,' Damon and Affleck said.

Damon and Affleck have already worked with HBO on their reality series Project Greenlight.

Damon has a keen interest in water.

As the founder of water.org he has spread the word about the lack of clean drinking water.

'As a guy who has four daughters, this is a huge issue for women and girls: girls are often left to leave school and go find water, and that obviously has a huge impact on the quality of life they can expect to have,' he said on his site.
