Steve Martin, 70, wears eccentric attire as he steps out with his much younger wife Anne, 43, and their little girl in NY

He's a man of many talents but it seems choosing clothes is not one of them.

Steve Martin was spotted out and about in an eccentric ensemble with his lovely younger wife Anne Stringfield and their daughter in New York on Friday.

The 70-year-old teamed his little hat with a yellow shirt, cream jacket and grey trousers.

He appeared to be colour co-ordinating his blue sneakers, which he tied with yellow laces, with his blue and yellow man purse that he wore across his body.

Anne, 43, looked chic in a white blouse and white skirt with a pattern of green hexagons, which she wore with white flat lace-up shoes.

The redhead, a writer who used to work for the New York Times, clipped her tresses back behind her ear and slung a black handbag over her shoulder.

She held onto their little girl's hand. The tot, who will be three in December, appeared to be wearing a white blouse with black spots and cream shorts.

The couple, who married in 2007 after three years together, have yet to reveal their little girl's name although Steve joked about it on The Late Show With David Letterman in April 2013, a few months after the birth.

Calling himself a ‘responsible dad’ he teased: ‘We've thought about the name quite a bit. Conquistador. What do you think? I didn't want to go with one of those Hollywood weird names. Conquistador is a statement.’

Meanwhile, the Grammy award winning banjo player has been concentrating on his music career of late. His new album with Edie Brickell, So Familiar, will be out on October 30.

Steve is also a serious collector of modern American painting and is adding a new role to his repertoire: art curator.

Working with curators, Cynthia Burlingham from the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and Andrew Hunter from the Art Gallery of Ontario, he has organized a show, The Idea Of North, to introduce the 20th-century Canadian painter Lawren Harris (1885-1970) to American museum-goers.

It opens on October 11 at the Hammer before traveling to Boston and Toronto, according to the New York Times on Friday

And he hasn't given up on his acting career. Steve will next be seen on the bigscreen in director Ang Lee's Iraq war dramedy Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, due out November 11, 2016, co-starring Kristen Stewart, Vin Diesel and Garrett Hedlund.
