Here come the Men In Black! Producers in talks to reboot hit franchise as a trilogy without Will Smith

They were the Men In Black whose secret organisation kept a close eye on aliens living on Planet Earth, keeping their presence hidden from humans.

 And now it looks like a reboot of the successful films which starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones could soon be back in production.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, those favourite sunglass wearing alien hunters are going to be revived for a series of three movies.

Producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald teased a return of the franchise in an interview, saying talks were heading in a very positive direction with Sony.

He said when asked if they were considering reviving the movies: 'We're in the middle of it. It's very active.'

The pair were then asked if they would be starring Will Smith, to which Walter Parkes responded: 'Most likely no.'

The original Men In Black films were a massive hit across the world.

They helped cement Will Smith's career as an international movie star, and one who could break big at the box office.

The producers said the talks they are currently having are for the film to be reproduced as a trilogy.

Men In Black was first released in 1997 - the science fiction action comedy was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.

It was a loose adaptation of a comic series by the same name.

It follows two agents who belong to a secret organisation called Men In Black.

They supervise extraterrestrial lifeforms on earth and hide their presence from the world.

Men In Black 2 was released in 2002 and Men In Black 3 in 2012.
