Lena Dunham puts her back into it as she promotes launch of her political newsletter LennyLetter

Anyone who has seen HBO's Girls knows there is no such thing as too much information when it comes to the lead character Hannah, played by the sitcom's creator.

And Lena Dunham is bringing the same ethic to her new email project, LennyLetter.com, which is due to bow on Tuesday with an exclusive interview with Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.

On Thursday the 29-year-old was in New York to promote the venture on AOL Build, a live online interview series hosted by AOL entertainment editorial director Donna Freydkin where fans sit inches away from some of their idols as they answer questions.

Lena was joined by her best friend and Girls producer Jenni Konner, who she is collaborating with on LennyLetter.

The two aim to tackle any and every topic they see fit - from style, health, feminism and politics - one daily email at a time, according to the LennyLetter website.

Both were dressed in black for the live interview,  with Lena in a black roll neck jumper, a pleated black mini-skirt and black loafers.

Jenni paired her black trousers and shoes with a dark green vest worn over a brown blouse decorated with dark green leaves.

The couple are certainly starting LennyLetter off on a strong footing with the Clinton interview.

Hillary will discuss campaign issues that resonate with Lena's target audience, like student debt and women’s health in an interview filmed in Manhattan on September 8, the same day the politician appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, according to politico.com.

Meanwhile, the Girls star has also revealed she is the latest of a string of celebrities to score a cameo on The Simpsons.

And not surprisingly, she is set to be a controversial addition to the long running cartoon when she appears this Sunday.

Lena is playing an edgy pharmacist who Homer falls for after his marriage with Marge hits the skids.

So overwhelmed: Lena posted this on Instagram on Thursday captioned, 'Some experiences are too much for words. A pleasure and honor, Madame Secretary. Sign up for @lennyletter to get the full scoop on 9/29'
