Ashley Judd is known for playing strong-willed characters.

The 47-year-old actress certainly made a memorable impression as she hit up the New York screening of her latest film Big Stone Gap with co-star Jenna Elfman among others.

Ashley looked radiant and youthful in a taupe lace dress with very low-cut V-neckline and waist-slimming bands around the middle.

Satiny heels in the same hue added several inches to her athletic 5 ft 7 frame while a slick of scarlet-red lipstick made her features dazzlingly brilliant.

Her brunette hair was pulled back in a neat ponytail, which also highlighted her dangling earrings.

Earlier in the day, Ashley was riveting in a form-fitting red dress as she attended a photocall for the film.

The film casts Ashley as a spinster in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia whose life is turned upside down after she discovers a long-buried family secret.

The movie, which opens in the US on October 9, also stars Patrick Wilson, Whoopi Goldberg, Jane Krakowski and Chris Sarandon.

Whoopi attended the screening in dressed down mode, choosing leather leggings, denim button-down shirt and grey boots along with a matching grey scarf.

Patrick Wilson opted for purple trousers, black T-shirt and a dark jacket for the big night.
