But there's nothing to stop pop star Christina Milian kicking off the celebrations early.

The singer, who's about to turn 34, was spotted smiling as she got into her car with a beautiful little cake, perfect for one, in the West Hollywood neighbourhood of Los Angeles on Friday afternoon.

The celebrity had also treated herself to a few early presents.

She grinned as strolled along carrying a bag from Elodie K, the luxury fashion boutique specializing in designer apparel, jewelry, cosmetics and home decor on trendy Melrose Place.

Christina was casually dressed for her outing in a striped henley top, ripped skinny jeans and sneakers.

Christina has been keeping herself busy to fend off heartbreak and she showed her man exactly what he's missing when she attended Verizon's Go90 sneak peek event at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills on Thursday night.

She made sure all her assets were on show as she flashed a tantilising hint of sideboob in a slashed camouflage vest with a bright yellow The Force motif.

And she flaunted her toned pins in a racy leather pencil skirt with a soaring thigh-high split.

Christina and Lil Wayne were first linked in July 2014, but it was just a few months ago that the singer began gushing about her boyfriend during interviews.

According to sources, the former couple have remained amicable following their split, both attending the same show during New York Fashion Week.

An insider told Us Weekly that their busy schedules were partly to blame for their split.

'They've broken up a few times before. She’s got so much going on with Grandfathered, her E! and Hulu shows, and working on her album with Wayne,' the source said.
