The unmistakeable pout, the legendary dress... Unseen candid footage of Marilyn Monroe filmed by an extra on the set of The Misfits with Clark Gable and Eli Wallach emerges for sale
- Intimate new footage of 1960s screen star Marilyn Monroe emerges for sale
- The 48-minute reel was shot during filming of her final movie, The Misfits
- Included is old recordings of her wearing the now iconic cherry print dress
- She is also filmed alongside her male co-stars Clark Gable and Eli Wallach
Candid footage from behind the scenes of the last film Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe ever starred in has emerged for sale for £20,000.
The 48-minute reel of never-before-seen footage was shot as troubled screen siren Monroe filmed at various locations across the U.S. for the 1961 film The Misfits.
The movie, which saw Monroe play a divorcee who befriends Clark Gable's dashing but ageing cowboy character, was highly anticipated but filming was blighted by a string of setbacks.

In this never-before-seen image, she is seen standing alongside Clark Gable, who also died not long after the film was released

Monroe is photographed chatting to a co-star on the set of the movie - the filming of which was fraught with difficulties
Monroe was in the middle of a messy marriage break-up from Arthur Miller, the film's writer, and at one point filming was put on hold for two weeks so she could go into rehab.
As the production went on Stanley Killar, an uncredited extra in the film, shot colour footage of filming taking place on his personal hand-held 8mm camera.
As part of the production team, Killar was allowed to film in places the public or media would never have been allowed, and was able to capture revealing footage of the film's stars.
Killar filmed Monroe on location in Reno, Nevada, outside a casino strip and in the Mapes Hotel, the production headquarters.
It captures Monroe wearing her iconic red cherry dress, rehearsing scenes at the rodeo and in a tavern.
Just over a year after the release of The Misfits, Monroe was found dead aged 36 after overdosing on prescription drugs.
The footage has extra poignancy because the film was also Gable's last - he died of a heart attack aged aged 59 before it was released.
Killar's video, which had a working title of On Sets: The Misfits, has never been broadcast before.
His family sold it in 2008 to a private collector who has now listed it for auction.
The footage, sold with full copyright, is tipped to fetch $30,000 - around £20,000 - when it goes under the hammer at Profiles in History auctioneers.
A spokesman for Profiles in History said: 'This is 48 minutes of unseen 8mm footage captured throughout the entire location shoot for Marilyn Monroe's final completed film, The Misfits, by uncredited extra Stanley Killar.
'Killar and his camera were clearly accepted with full access, judging from the intimacy of the hand-held camera with Marilyn, Clark Gable, Montgomery Clift, John Huston, and others.

'Filming begins in Reno on the casino strip filled with flashing neon signs, and around the Mapes Hotel and Casino which was official headquarters for the production while on location.
'Footage includes Marilyn first in the legendary cherry dress, truly radiant, then throughout the footage in a few different outfits preparing for and rehearsing scenes like the courthouse, the rodeo and the tavern.
'The Misfits is widely considered Marilyn's finest dramatic acting role, as well as being one of the best for both Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift.
'To the best of our knowledge this footage has not been previously published or broadcast and is offered here with full rights and assignment of copyright to its entire content.
'It is an extraordinary and absolutely unique previously missing puzzle piece in the brief, convoluted history of Marilyn Monroe on and off screen.'
The auction will take place in Calabasas, California, on September 30.
