Heavily-bearded Robert Pattinson peeps beneath a black cap as he enjoys a rare late lads' night in central London

He's recently talked about the 'crazy' attention at the peak of his Twilight years.

But Robert Pattinson proved that he can finally enjoy a little respite from the fan frenzy as he stood outside one of London's busier underground stations on Friday without concern for being recognised.

The 29-year-old Brit was dressed in all-black, hiding his new, heavily-bearded appearance casually beneath a cap as he hung out by Sloane Square tube station after a night out with fellow actor Johnny Flynn.

With his distinctive bold brows offset by the copper tones in his new bushy beard, the handsome Twilight star easily flew below the radar.

He dressed comfortably in a layered shirt, jumper and black jacket ensemble; with a practical backpack on: just like any other visitor to the city.

On his feet, Rob stuck to casual trainers, while his friend mixed up his style by teaming stocky boots with an untucked but smart shirt.

The actors, both British and old school pals, seemed to have got together while Hollywood moviestar Pattinson is back in town to film The Lost City Of Z in nearby Dublin, Ireland.

Pattinson's old pal Johnny, whilst recently appearing in E4 comedy sitcom Scrotal Recall is also a musician, like Rob's girlfriend FKA twigs.

By now, Rob appears to be more comfortable with stepping out in his native London, without being mobbed by Twilight fans.

Speaking to NME magazine this month, he admitted that it was a 'crazy' time in his life when he said: 'I had people sitting outside my house every single day, and it drove me crazy. I didn’t go into a supermarket for about six years.

'But now I can go in and chat to the guy who’s working there about his kids, or where he’s going on holiday, and not be thinking, "Is he gonna sell me out?"

'I just don’t have to think about that stuff anymore.'

Is that you Rob? From beneath his cap, only his brows and his beard could be seen
Looking cool: His outfit was suitably cool and low-key

Unrecognisable: His newly-bearded appearance made him almost unrecognisable
