On Wednesday she became the UN Foundation's first Global Advocate For Girls And Women.

And Jennifer Lopez was pressed into service straight away as a speaker at the Foundation's Gender Equality Dinner at The Four Seasons Restaurant in Manhattan, New York on Friday.

The 46-year-old actress-singer, who looked lovely in a Fifties-inspired pastel ensemble, made it a date night and brought along her younger boyfriend Casper Smart, 28.

Nab some raised-back pumps like J. Lo

Named the UN Foundation's first Global Advocate For Girls And Women on Wednesday, Jennifer Lopez was quickly thrust into service at a Gender Equality dinner on Friday. It's a serious role, so no hotsy totsy plunging necklines or body-con cutout dresses here.

Smartly, J.Lo chose a peach button-down with a peach flared skirt. The look was demure, but still evening-worthy thanks to high-quality fabric, e.g. the iridescent shine of her top paired with billowy satin feel of her skirt.

Of course, no girl can resist adding some fashion-forward flare, no matter how serious the event is. And J.Lo decided to do that with her shoes. They are Christian Louboutin's Mea Culpa flared suede pump and they're recognizable because of their red soles raised wavy back. J.Lo's hue is not yet available, but you can click right to get them in many more fall-appropriate colors, including black (pictured).

If $895 is a little out of your price range, see below. We've rounded up some peach, wavy pumps that won't break the bank.

Jennifer was due to talk up the business case for investing in girls, women and gender equality at the high-level event.

J-Lo was beautifully dressed for the big bash in a shimmering pale gold silk blouse and a full, pale pink skirt made of layers of chiffon, which she paired with salmon pink suede high heels.

She styled her brunette tresses in an elegant updo, giving a clear view of her perfectly made up face.

Her on-again beau Casper was suited up in a blue two-piece with a white shirt covered in tiny black spots.

The dancer-choreographer sported a shaved head look and the couple smiled as they posed on the red carpet.

Others at the event included news anchor Katie Couric, UN Foundation president and CEO Kathy Calvin and Queen Rania of Jordan.

Jennifer is well qualified for her new role.

The Golden Globe and Grammy Award nominated entertainer and entrepreneur founded the Lopez Family Foundation with her sister Lynda Lopez in 2010, which works to improve the health and well-being of women and children.

On Wednesday, when her appointment was announced, Jennifer, who shares seven-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex, Marc Anthony, said: 'Becoming a mother has made me more aware of the struggles of women and children throughout the world.

'While some progress has been made, there is still a lot more work that needs to be done for gender equality and universal access to medical care.

'I am happy to be joining the UN Foundation and eager to lend my voice and ensure that all girls and women are safe, healthy, educated and empowered.'

Chinese leader Xi Jinping will preside over a UN conference on gender equality, at the United Nations' headquarters in New York on Sunday, expected to be attended by 80 world leaders.

However, some are upset about the event given China's recent detentions of women's rights activists and its record of preventing people attending UN meetings to discuss such issues, according to The Review on Friday
