Another 40 years of Simon: Cowell reveals he underwent a test with doctors to find out when he'll die... and will live until 95

It already seems he's been around forever.

But Simon Cowell has a lot longer to go yet, as he has been told he will live to the grand age of 95.

The 55-year-old music and TV mogul has admitted he had scientific tests done to predict when he will die, and the results suggest he has another 40 years of life left.

And, despite being a smoker with a 20-a-day habit, and a punishing career that has seen him become one of the most well-known and successful stars in the entertainment industry over the past decade and a half, Simon's impressive life expectancy is partly down to having a family, he said.

He told the Daily Mirror's Clemmie Moodie: 'I had the DNA test done in LA which predicts when you're going to die. They take your blood and DNA, then give you back a sheet of paper which says 'We think you're going to be alive until xxxx'.

'Obviously it doesn't take account of the fact you might get hit by a bus tomorrow, but I got told I'd die aged 95 - which is about as good as you can expect.'

He added: 'I think a lot of it is down to having a family now, and a lack of stress. I've learned to deal with stress much better now, things don't bother me in the way that they once used to.'

The X Factor boss also stressed the importance of regular check-ups, telling the newspaper that he thoroughly believes in getting checked out regularly, for peace of mind, and also revealed he is looked at by a medical professional twice a year.

If all works out for Simon and the lab tests were correct, he'll live longer than the current average, as the life expectancy of people in England has risen from 75.9 years in 1990 to 81.3 years in 2013.

Simon is feeling hopeful about his chances for a longer life with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman, and their son Eric.

He lost his father, also called Eric, in 1999 after he passed away following a heart attack at the age of 81.

And, earlier this year, he suffered another blow when his beloved mother Julie died after being ill for a long time following a stroke she suffered in 2014.

The 89-year-old matriarch died at the age of 89 at the beginning of July, just when this year's season of X Factor was about to start recording, and Simon was left devastated.

Meanwhile, Simon has continued to make headlines in recent days as the new series of his landmark TV talent show - which also stars Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw -carries on with brute force.

The latest goings-on suggest that previous judge Louis Walsh, 63, might be making a comeback to the show, after leaving it earlier this year to be replaced by Nick.

The veteran judge, who appeared on Loose Women on Friday, said: 'Simon said the door was open to me months ago. I talked to him last night. There is a possibility I might end up on the show, but I don't know for definite.

'I'd like to. I'm available. There is a possibility. It's up to Simon and I get on with him really well. I have worked with him for 12 years. We talk all the time. I think there is a chance.

'It's the best show in the world - it's the most talked about TV show - there are three or four acts on the show this year that are incredible.'

It was recently reported that the old X Factor stalwart will be returning as a neutral fifth judge, providing unbiased comments on the contestants with a pinch of his trademark good humour.

Clearly a big fan of his former job, Louis - a very close pal of Simon's - added: 'I love doing X Factor, I love working with Simon. He is a loose cannon but he makes great TV.

'He is going to have the best TV show this year. But he has four judges - does he need five?'
