MATT MORLIDGE IN SUZUKA: McLaren’s disastrous season sunk to new lows as both star drivers rejected claims from team chief Ron Dennis that they were sure to stay in 2016. Dennis, returning to Suzuka after an illness, was unequivocal in his stance that he had changed Jenson Button’s mind about retiring from Formula One after a phone call on Thursday while he stated Fernando Alonso was on a three-year contract which would not be broken. But Button criticised his boss for speaking publicly and Alonso admitted he didn’t know if he would be racing for McLaren next year.
