Thibaut Courtois gives double thumbs up as Chelsea crock shares rehabilitation picture following knee surgery

  • Thibaut Courtois has been ruled out for 10 weeks with a knee injury
  • Belgium No 1 confirmed rehabilitation is going well after surgery
  • Chelsea have won three consecutive games with Asmir Begovic in goal

Chelsea No 1 Thibaut Courtois has shared an update of his recovery following surgery on a knee injury that is expected to keep him sidelined for 10 weeks.

The Belgium international tore his meniscus while training ahead of the Premier League champion's loss to Everton at Goodison Park on September 12 and subsequently underwent surgery in Spain.

The operation appears to have been successful after Courtois shared an Instagram picture of his damaged knee packed in ice alongside another of himself giving a double thumbs up, accompanied by the caption: 'Since 1 week started my rehabilitation. Everything is going very well on the moment! Thanks for you support! ‪#‎CFC‬ ‪#‎workhard‬ ‪#‎comebackstronger'.

Despite being on course to return for the Blues' home fixture with Norwich on November 21, the 23 year old will still miss a minimum of 13 games, including four Champions League matches.

After losing to Everton to compound Jose Mourinho's worst start to a league campaign, Chelsea have rediscovered their form with reserve keeper Asmir Begovic contributing to three successive victories, including Wednesday's Capital One Cup win against Walsall.

Despite being to blame for Walsall's goal, Begovic is confident the champions have turned a corner. 'The last week has been really good for us with three wins in a row and we need to keep it going. We'll just take it one game at a time, try to claw those points back and look forward to the rest of the season,' he said.

'The Premier League is very unpredictable and a lot of things can happen, we'll just have to take care of our job and hopefully the rest will take care of itself.
