Father-of-one and his best friend named as two of the four killed in midnight quad bike crash with sports car

A father-of-one and his best friend have been named as two of the four killed when a quad bike collided with a sports car.

A man, named locally as Ryan Beal, aged 20, and two women, aged 16 and 18, were declared dead at the scene by emergency services in the early hours.

Another man, also aged 20, named as Brandon Brown, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries to his head and body. Officers confirmed he died this morning.

Two men, aged 21 and 22, who were in the bronze-coloured Nissan A350Z, have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The pair remain in custody where they are being quizzed about the collision on A602, between Upton and Hemsworth, West Yorkshire. 

Father-of-one Mr Beal was due to turn 21 on Tuesday. 

His devastated brother, Steven, said his sibling worked as a window fitter and described him as rugby mad.  

'He was a caring dad,' said the-26-year-old, at Upton amateur rugby league club where Ryan has been a member.

'He had played rugby for around 10 years from the age of seven, only stopping when his daughter Ruby was born.

'He was into all sorts from fishing, to going out with the dog, but his baby, Ruby, was his pride and joy he loved her to bits.

'He also was into his quad biking and used to take his quad bike out quite lot off road but I don't know what he was doing with it out on the road.'

Mr Beal  said the other dead man was his brother's bestfriend Brandon Brown.

He added: 'They had known each other since they were at school and were really good mates.'

Police, who were called at about 00.30am, warned drivers to avoid the area as emergency services continued to work at the scene .

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Holmes, from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is leading the probe.

'Widespread investigations are continuing into what is a significant incident on the district's roads which has now tragically now resulted in the loss of four lives.

'Painstaking investigative work is continuing at the scene and the road itself will not be re-opened until tomorrow.

'The victims are from the local area and are two men aged 20 and two females aged 18 and 16.

'Their families are currently being supported by specially trained officers and we are not in a position to release any further details of those who have lost their lives at this time.'  

He said detectives are appealing for witnesses, including anyone who saw the incident or the quad bike or the Nissan being driven before the collision happened.
