Forty ELIE Case Studies looking at the Lived Experience of Immigrant Entrepreneurs in Finland, Greece, Poland and the UK are now available on-line. They can be read by going to the Life Stories tab on the left.

ELIE - Employability: Learning through International Entrepreneurship -aims to develop new methods of giving people the capabilities and skills to start up their own business if they emigrate from their country of birth. It is well known that immigrants are often successful entrepreneurs but we don’t know what helps and encourages people to start their own businesses on moving to a new country. ELIE will work with immigrant entrepreneurs across Europe to discover their experiences of starting up and maintaining a business in a new country.

Using action research methods to explore the lived experience of immigrant entrepreneurs ELIE will bring together key features of their success into learning frameworks for employability and entrepreneurship in a cross-cultural environment suitable for delivery in both formal and informal settings. Based on one of the findings of the Elie Project, there is now a new project called ELIEMENTALworking with people who have barriers preventing them from taking the first steps towards developing their own enterprise.
