With his professional life going from strength to strength, his personal affairs are apparently suffering because of it.

Olly Murs is reportedly 'numb' and 'heartbroken' after having allegedly broken up with his long-term girlfriend - property developer Francesca Thomas - last week.

The X Factor presenter and the businesswoman have suddenly split, following a recent romantic getaway, due to his packed-out work schedule, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The EX Factor: Olly Murs and his girlfriend of three years - Francesca Thomas - reportedly split last week after returning from a holiday together

A source told the Sunday newspaper: 'The split has just happened and it is very raw for Olly, he still feels numb.

'He always worried that his relationship would struggle because he'd always put his career first.'

It's thought the pair drifted apart as Olly, 31, juggled filming X Factor with relaunching his music career.

MailOnline has contacted Olly's management for comment.

Olly and Francesca, 26, had been dating since 2012 after first meeting at V Festival in his native Essex.

The runner-up of the 2009 series of the ITV talent contest he now presents previously described their relationship as 'life-changing' and was keen for his girlfriend to lead a normal life and not be 'sucked into' the celebrity lifestyle.

He told MailOnline in January: 'I don’t want her to be harassed at work because of me and my job.

‘It’s nothing to do with her – our relationship is private, it shouldn’t be out there in the press, but it comes with the job.’

‘If at any point she wanted to walk away because she couldn't handle the stress, then I would understand. I have to figure out how I can combine my work and relationship,' he added to The Sun in October 2014.

Despite the apparent upset, Olly has put on a brave face this week and took his mind off his love woes by enjoying the company of some famous lad friends.

Earlier in the week, the Heart Skips a Beat hit-maker was pictured on a night out at nightclub Mahiki, London, with Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson.

'Bit of a Lionel tonight @niallhoran,' he captioned an Instagram snap of him and the Irish One Direction singer sipping on a treasure chest cocktail, uploaded to his page on Tuesday.
