Contribute editing in many areas but particularly arts, science, music and sports, all of which are areas that I very much need to use a high quality resource archive like Keesing's. —Loginnigol (talk) 11:42, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

  4. Dolovis - I am active in researching mostly biographical articles (sports bios and others) and am often looking for reliable sources to verify biographical information. Access to these resources would be extremely helpful. Dolovis (talk) 14:12, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
@Dolovis:: I believe that the Kessing's material is more of global news events, so probably won't be focused on individual biographies. I can approve you if you think it will be of use (and I believe you can return the accounts). But if you won't use it, it would be best to roll that account on to someone else, Sadads (talk) 15:53, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
I am often looking for information concerning international events such as the Olympics or World Championships, but I will not know how useful this service will be to my research until I use it. Dolovis (talk) 17:43, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

@Designate: You more than qualify, however, looking at your editing history, you work mostly in 19th century American politicians. The database focuses on post 1930 global news topics. Could you confirm how and why you think this database would be of use for you? Sadads (talk) 15:53, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
That's been a recent focus, but I've worked quite a bit on contemporary politics and I've often relied on newspapers for sources. —Designate (talk) 22:46, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Waitlist[edit]

  1. Bejnar (talk · contribs) Active since December 2005, I do a lot of citation work and verification. I often write one or two new articles per month. I do mostly non-BLP biography, geography, and occasional geology articles. In the past I have worked on Afghanistan history and geography, Libyan history and geography, Burma history and geography, New Mexico history and geography, East and Southern Africa geography and some history and Indian geography, as well as a lot of miscellaneous stuff. WikiChecker says I have over 40,000 edits, and Pages created says I've created 1290 new pages, excluding redirects, but including new disambiguation pages. I expect to use the Keesings resources mostly for verification in existing history, biography and geography articles. Today I used the sample to start to update and correct the Tony Yengeni article, but I ended up citing the Guardian article that Keesings cited, as it was still available on the web, and was more detailed. --Bejnar (talk) 23:42, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
  2. codrinb (talk · contribs) I frequently contribute to archaeology and history articles, and having access to Keesings would allow me to source these articles using academic papers and books on the mentioned topics.--Codrin.B (talk) 21:26, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
@Codrinb:- This topical database is focused on summarizing major events post-1930. Based on your description and editing history: are you sure this would be of use to you? See description at jcsonline, Sadads (talk) 15:53, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
I occasionally contribute to WWII and communism related articles as well, granted not as much as Antiquity and Middle Ages. It would be great if I could get an account but if there are others who are more active in the the post-1930 period, then I am fine if they get higher priority. --Codrin.B (talk) 12:46, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
@Codrinb:I am going to put you down in the waitlist for now. The next user on the wait-list does contemporary topics directly related to the database's main holdings. We can revisit your access when more accounts become available, Sadads (talk) 13:07, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
  3. Roman Spinner (talk · contribs) I have been editing for nearly 8½ years (since January 2006) on an almost-daily basis and have over 17,700 edits. My article creation extends to film, television and theater topics as well as to history and literature. I would like to use Keesings in creating British-oriented articles on these and other topics. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 00:19, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
@Roman Spinner: Most of the news covered by Keesings is major current events in the political, social, and scientific, post-1930. Based on your description and editing history: are you sure this would be of use to you? See description at jcsonline, Sadads (talk) 14:34, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
It is always desirable to have access to a variety of research sources, and I have worked on a number of articles dealing with politics and history, however, taking into account the limited number of available spaces for applicants, I withdraw my entry. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 15:30, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
Request withdrawn @Roman Spinner: Thanks: when we get more accounts available, we will revist users that were on the edge of usefulness for the database (as happened recently with WP:BNA), Sadads (talk) 15:39, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
Davidcannon (talk · contribs): I contribute mostly to Fiji-related articles; I intend to branch out into other Pacific Island- related articles. Finding credible sources is a pain in the neck. But Keesings looks like a great resource. If I find that it's of no use to me, I'll give it up. David Cannon (talk) 08:31, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
  4. Chuangzu (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I have been active editing on Wikipedia since 2006, my main area is Chinese Martial Arts and Taoism in the United Kingdom, in particular the history of the Lee style T'ai Chi and the author Chee Soo, I am also interested in the history of West Penwith in Cornwall, United Kingdom, where I live miles from the nearest University or Library which is why I conduct research using the internet.Chuangzu (talk) 18:20, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
