  • Editors should not provide bare links to restricted Newspaperarchive.com pages or content files
  • Citations should include a link to an Open Access "Clipping" (see subsection below)
  • Make sure to include the {{Open access}} template in citations of clippings: we want our readers to know that they can access these articles.
  • Respect the copyright of Newspaperarchive.com, in accordance with Wikipedia's copyright policy and their terms of use
  • Cite items resources in line with the citation examples provided below or with the examples provided by Newspaperarchive.com

Example

Clippings[edit]

Both Newspaperarchive.com and The Wikipedia Library would prefer that articles citing Newspaperarchive.com link to clippings. Clippings allow Newspapers.com subscriber-editors to identify particular articles, extract them from the original full sheet newspaper and share them through unique URLs. Thus readers who click on a Newspaperarchive.com Clipping links will be able to access that particular article without needing to subscribe to Newspaperarchive.com. Clippings can be deleted by the user who created the clipping, but otherwise remain permanently open access, even when user accounts expire.

  1. Checkingfax (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) – I am excited to have access to a bazillion articles stored in the archive's vault so I can add more content and references to articles that are lacking. I have 2500 articles on my Watchlist ready for action. I helped bring article-5M to GA and it was an arduous task finding references to cite.

  2. Gatoclass (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I am a nine-year veteran of en.wiki, and though circumstances have curtailed my activities here for the last couple of years, I now have many projects in the pipeline and am looking forward to an increased level of content creation. In the topic areas in which I am active, newspapers are among my most important resources (example here) and a subscription to Newspaperarchive would be a great asset to my research. Thank you for your consideration. Gatoclass (talk) 05:32, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

  3. Fluffernutter (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I often edit in the areas of legal/medical cases of public interest and would like to have access to sources that would let me research the news coverage of these topics. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 17:13, 3 February 2016 (UTC)

  4. EddieHugh (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) My main contributions are to jazz articles (16 GA, 15 of which are biographies). Some of the players I write on had local or regional reputations rather than national ones, so coverage of them in national newspapers of the time, books, etc is limited. Newspapers.com has been of some value; assuming that Newspaperarchive.com has some additional sources, it will help further. EddieHugh (talk) 17:01, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

  5. MACWILMSLO (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email)) I would like access to the Newspaper Archive in order to check numerous dates and undertake original research in respect of old time radio, Bing Crosby and other artists of that vintage.

  6. SteveStrummer (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I'm a contributor since 2008, 16k+ edits. I work a lot on US articles. I've made good use of my Newspapers.com account and I would be excited to use this resource as well. SteveStrummer (talk) 11:29, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
