Rapper Fetty Wap is recovering in hospital after he was knocked off his motorcycle in his New Jersey hometown on Saturday.

The 25-year-old took to Instagram on Sunday to let his fans know he's doing fine and revealed he broke his leg in three places in the serious accident. 'Broke my leg in three places... but Imma be a'ight' he added before again thanking all his supporters.

On Monday The New York Daily News reported the musician has been cited with three tickets by police officers in his home state. They were for driving without a license, driving without insurance, and for failing to provide a valid registration card.

On the rise: Fetty is best known for his 2014 hit single Trap Queen. His debut solo album titled simply Fetty Wap was released on Friday

Alongside the posting he wrote: 'Appreciate Ya so much for the prayers … they told me don't make a video but I'm still breathing so I gotta let ya no I'll be back'

Wap was seen laying on the ground in Paterson as several people tended to him on Saturday. He was then taken away in an ambulance.

His representatives released a statement on Saturday night saying: 'Fetty Wap was involved in a motorcycle incident earlier today. He was treated at a local hospital and is in stable condition. His family wants to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support.

'They ask that you respect their privacy during this time. We will provide an update on his condition as it becomes available.'

The woman driving the car involved in the collision has not been identified but it is known she was injured and treated at a hospital.

According to ABC 7 police are investigating the crash.

Wap - whose real name is Willie Maxwell - 'tried passing one vehicle, he didn't see another coming in the opposite direction and they collided,' a source told TMZ.

He was conscious after the wreck but his injuries are not known. A source told TMZ Fetty was awake and 'doing fine' in the hospital but doctors are running tests.

Hours later his friend Jhonni Blaze from Love & Hip Hop NY posted a photo of the singer on Instagram with a leg brace and arm wrap on. She wrote in her caption, 'He's ok.'

It is not known if he was wearing a helmet.

His debut solo album titled simply Fetty Wap was released on Friday. That same day he appeared at SiriusXM in New York City to promote his project. He was wearing the same clothes that he had on during the accident.

He is best known for his 2014 hit single Trap Queen, which peaked at number two on the United States Billboard Hot 100 in May 2015. Khloe Kardashian references the song in a weekend Instagram post.

His subsequent hit singles were 679 and My Way.

In August, two girls were injured when Wap jumped off stage and into the crowd at a music festival in Long Island. The legs of both girls became trapped under a steel fence when fans rushed the stage at the Billboard Hot 100 festival in Wantagh.

Wap was one of two dozen artists performing at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater when the incident happened.

He was nicknamed Fetty (slang for money). The Wap part is a tribute to his favorite artist Gucci Mane.

Wap has glaucoma in both eyes. In 2015 he revealed he lost one of his eyes to the disease and now has a prosthetic left eye.
