'My whole universe!' Drew Barrymore celebrates daughter Olive's third birthday with a picture of her 'hilarious tiger cake'

She has made it clear that her children come first - turning down acting roles that would take her away from home.

But Drew Barrymore obviously has no regrets about her decision to prioritise motherhood over stardom.

Celebrating her daughter Olive's third birthday on Saturday, the 40-year-old expressed her joy in a heartfelt Instagram post.

'Happy birthday to one of my two daughters, who are simply put, my whole universe,' she wrote.

'There is no end to my love for them. Three years old. Best three years of my life. #birthdaygirl #tigercake #crazybirthdaycakes.'

The post was accompanied by a picture of a sheet cake emblazoned with a photograph of a tiger.

Explained Drew: 'My daughter wanted a tiger cake for her birthday. I just had no idea it would be the radest and most hilarious tiger cake on the planet.'

Drew and art consultant husband Will Kopelman also have daughter Frankie, who turned one in April.

50 First Dates star Drew has been open about how she prioritises her children.

And she has diversified into other projects, launching a branded Barrymore wine, and accessorisies and make-up business Flower.

'Flower has changed my life because it lets me be a mom the way I want to be and I still get to do something meaningful and think about girls and women and empowering messages,' she told E! online.

'I love movies but the hours right now for where my kids are in their life, it's few and far between that I'll work.'

Drew started her acting career aged just eleven months, and found fame aged four as Gertie in E.T.
