Two beautiful teenage girls were tragically killed when a Georgia State Patrol cruiser crashed into the vehicle the girls were riding in Saturday night.

The deaths of 17-year-old Kylie Lindsey and 16-year-old Isabella Chinchilla shocked the campus at South Paulding High School in Douglasville as the students returned to classes following their fall break.

Police say that the girls were riding in the backseat of a 2005 Nissan Sentra as their two male friends, 18-year-old Dillon Lewis Wall and 17-year-old Benjamin Alan Finken, rode in the front seats of the car around 11.30pm in Carroll County.

The trooper, identified as Anthony J. Scott, was driving north on U.S. 27 in a 2014 Dodge Charger patrol car when the Nissan turned in front of him, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Scott's vehicle struck the right side of the Nissan as it attempted to turn onto Holly Springs Road and both cars were forced off the road due to the impact, authorities say.

Authorities say that Scott was on patrol, but was not answering a call or running the car's emergency lights when he crashed into the back of the Nissan.

Lindsey was not wearing her seat belt and was thrown from the car.

The two teenage boys in the front seats survived the crash and were treated at Grady Memorial Hospital.

'It's really hard. And she was a really sweet, beautiful, very intelligent girl,' friend Chase Leonhardi said of Lindsey to WSB-TV.

He added: 'Everyone knew Kylie, everyone loved Kylie. It's going to be really hard for everybody. It's definitely a really big loss.'

Grief counselors were present at the high school throughout Monday to help students deal with the tragic loss of the girls.

On Monday a prayer service was held for the well-liked girls by their friends before classes started at the high school.

'It's going to help, but it's not. It's not ever going to be the same in our school anymore,' Adrien Flournoy told WSB-TV.
