Rihanna conceals her hour-glass figure in customised nightwear as she poses with a cigarette on glossy cover shot by the singer herself

She's anything but shy when it comes to showing some skin.

But Rihanna was uncharacteristically covered up in her latest shoot which saw her not only grace the cover of a glossy music magazine but also capture the finished image.

The 27-year-old Pour It Up hit-maker concealed her hour-glass figure as she slipped into all-pink customised nightwear which comprised a personalised 'R' short-sleeved top, a long silk cami nightie and a pair of matching furry slider-style slippers for the Fader shoot.

Slip into something slinky in a dress like Rihanna's

Rihanna might be one for looking a little over the top at times, with her huge oversized Vetements outerwear, ruffled dresses and fur adorned ensembles, but sometimes, less is more and we thought Rihanna looked rather cute here for this cover shot for Fader magazine.

The Barbadian stunner looked pretty sassy in that Rochas perforated crop top layered beneath the Avakeawake slip dress and with it topped off with those Fenty x Puma slides from her own collection, she couldn't have worked the sports luxe trend any better.

The dress which is an autumn/winter 2015 piece isn't available online, but if you click right you'll be able to browse the rest of the collection.

Or get the look below with the help of our high street options. Fraiche, Galvan and Missguided have both got the slip dress trend sussed this season!

Rihanna sported ombre-toned hair which was deliberately left untreated to allow for a natural look with heavily-shadowed eyes offering a contrasting touch.

The chart-topper didn't fail to court controversy as she unashamedly posed with a lit cigarette in the images which accompanied the cover shot.

She bared her decorative wrist tattoo as she lay back against a wall, staring into space while holding the burning prop in between her fingers.

Rihanna played a major part in the creative direction of the finished shoot as she revealed she was not only was the star of the shoot but that she captured it herself as she shared the re-touched images with her Instagram followers on Monday.

Posting the cover to her 26.6m following, she captioned it: 'New cover for @theFADER out now! #FADER100 shot by moi @renataraksha let me takeover her s**t!!! (Sic.)'

Additional images saw her slip into sexier garments - one being a beige bodysuit and the other a black-bra-and-anorak ensemble.

Rihanna blew smoke out of her mouth in a shot that was taken from the side while the final image saw her bare her bra-clad breasts as she threw her hands in the air.

The shoot is not accompanied by an in-depth interview as the singer only agreed to answer five questions via email.

Instead, the 'interviewer' details a handful of their encounters with the star for lack of a face-to-face conversation.

Recalling an arranged meeting for a 2007 cover story, she writes: 'We met in a beautiful house with a pool in the Hollywood Hills. I recall how flattered she was when I said I liked her new look, how she laughed and thanked me when I said she resembled an assassin.

'We were both wearing gold bamboo earrings. We listened to Umbrella together in the kitchen of the house where we took photos; it was the first time I heard it.

'Rihanna was wearing roller skates, which she was deeply unhappy about. She requested to be changed out of a sea-foam miniskirt because it was too short. She was 19. It is amazing to me that Rihanna has felt so young, so exciting, and so still-promising for almost a decade.'

The latest images are a striking contrast to the Bajan star's latest sighting which saw her bare her mostly naked body - apart from black underwear - in a green fishnet dress following her performance at Rock In Rio in Brazil on Sunday.

Rihanna appears on the 100th edition of Fader Magazine which is available from newsstands from October 27.
