'Think I'd end up looking like this if I lived in LAla land': Model Catherine McNeil pokes fun at Hollywood trout pouts as she posts snap with enlarged lips online

Her striking face has graced the covers of an array of magazines and she has strutted her incredible figure on numerous high fashion designer runways.

But Australian model Catherine McNeil gave her fans a shock when she posted an image to her Instagram that showed the star with drastically bigger lips.

The 26-year-old quickly reassured her fans that the image wasn't real, just a mocked-up image to show what she would look like with plastic surgery and Botox.

‘Think I’d end up looking like this if I lived in LAla land,’ she captioned the image, poking fun at the many Hollywood stars who opt to have cosmetic enhancements.

And it didn’t take long for her fans to throw their support behind the successful catwalk Queen.

‘That is so true!!!!!’ wrote one fan while another noted her new look was ‘very Kylie Jenner’ while another added that she looked ‘very Kardashian-esque.’

Another urged Catherine not to alter her appearance, writing: ‘Noooooo! Don’t change a thing!’

The striking brunette often takes to her social media to share stunning selfies of her incredibly defined cheekbones and mesmerising hazel eyes, making her an obvious catwalk choice for designers, and a photographer's absolute dream.

Catherine's modelling career kicked off at the young age of 14, after she took out the winning title in a Girlfriend magazine modelling competition.

She's gone on to grace the pages of countless glossy magazines, and was the face of Australian swimwear label Seafolly when she sported a curvier figure.

But Catherine hasn’t been the only celebrity to apparently slam the industry’s beauty ideals this week.

On Sunday, Alli Simpson declared she was turning her back on Hollywood’s perception of perfection in favour of reconnecting with her true identity.

Posting a lengthy essay to Instagram, the LA-based younger sister of singer Cody Simpson revealed that over the next two weeks, she will take time out to work on herself - promising to discard her hair extensions, fake tan and makeup.

The blonde Australian, who has already bid farewell to her acrylic nails, wrote to her 1.7m followers: 'I am going to learn to be me and love myself for who I really am again. Not hidden by any mask and false image'.

The Radio Disney continued her new manifesto by pledging to exercise more, enjoy the sunshine, go to bed early, take up yoga, reading and and meditation, and to 'do everything and anything to work hard to improve myself in my craft and work.'

The inspirational post was accompanied with the caption: 'Everybody's going through something. Come on a journey with me and find who we really are. I want to be vulnerable and feel alive. I hope you do too'.

Meanwhile Gigi Hadid – the ex-girlfriend of Cody Simpson who still remains close to Alli – also went on a similar rant on the same day.

The 20-year-old defended her body type following some negative posts online which claimed she didn’t have the right model look.

'No, I don't think I have the same body type as the other models in shows. No, I don't think I am the best at any given show. Yes, I want a unique walk but I also know I have to improve.

'No, I'm not the first or last model of my type in this industry. You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I'm a hard worker that's confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for a change.'

While some fashion fans credited Gigi's appearance after her Hilfiger show, others were less than kind.

One wrote: 'Not the bum of a top model,' while another said: 'All other models on stage had better bodies than Gigi and her sister.'

A third wrote: 'How can you be that young, have so much fat and cellulite on your lower body when you're employed as a model?'

The girlfriend of Joe Jonas adds: 'I'm just doing my job. I represent a body image that wasn't accepted in high fashion before, and I'm very lucky to be supported by the designers, stylists, and editors that I am: ones that know this is fashion, this is art; it can never stay the same.

'It's 2015. But if you're not one of those people, don't take your anger out on me. Yes I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I'm not asking for special treatment.
