Naomi Watts is in motherhood heaven as she celebrated her birthday with her nearest and dearest on Monday.

Turning 47, the blonde actress took to Instagram to gush about a set of hand-written birthday cards crafted by her young two children - Samuel, six, and eight-year-old Alexander.

'Best Birthday Ever!! Love my family. #grateful Best mom of the Mall!!' wrote the Insurgent actress next to the close-up snapshot of the scrawling messages.

Appearing fresh faced and make-up free, Naomi tied her naturally wavy hair into a messy bun and added a pair of sunglasses to shade her famous features.

The British-born Australian actress and her American partner Liev Schreiber, 47, live in New York with their children, but are often on the move thanks to their busy work schedules.

The couple were spotted in Los Angeles earlier this month for the Emmy Awards, in which Liev lost out to Mad Men's John Hamm for the award of best lead actor.

Naomi too experienced a career setback when a The Sea of Trees, a film in which she starred, received boos from the audience at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

Naomi is now gearing up for her next silver screen roles, including the drama Demolition and the psychologically thriller Shut, both scheduled for release in 2016.
