He may have retired from football two years ago, but David Beckham still has strong ties to sport.

The star jetted to Dubai on Tuesday for the opening of the new Adidas HomeCourt concept store in the Mall of Emirates.

The father of four, who in 2003 signed a $160 million lifetime contract with the sports brand, happily signed autographs for a huge crowd of adoring fans in the latest stop in a busy jet-set week.

Underwear model, ahem, footballer, David Beckham is knocking about in Dubai for the store opening of the new adidas HomeCourt concept store at the Mall of Emirates.

He greeted fans with nothing but a smile on his face...and clothes of course.

Unsurprisingly he's a bit of a sneaker geek and whats a grand opening of an adidas store without some adidas sneaks. David donned a pair of adidas Originals Pro Model sneaks with his adidas Miami tee.

David, 40, dressed the part in a red Adidas t-shirt with Miami splashed across the front, teamed with jeans and trainers from the brand as he hit the store.

The international star happily signed autographs and posed from photos with young fans, before touring the new shop which featured huge billboards from his own campaign for the brand.

Earlier in the day the sportsman stopped by Adidas Dubai HQ to meet staff, telling his Instagram fans as he posed in front of a wall filled with messages from fans:

It's been a busy week for the star, who just hours before his whistle-top visit to Dubai, was home in London for Monday night's Pride of Britain Awards.

While David was flying solo on the red carpet, his wife Victoria was in the States for the annual ladies luncheon for Fashion 4 Development in New York.

And as David headed out to Dubai on Tuesday, his fashion designer wife was preparing to jet home from the US, sharing photos from her event on Instagram and writing 'Goodbye NY!'

The superstar couple have been living increasingly separate lives in recent months, as their careers keep them busy around the world.

When the pair were in the same city together last week, rumours of a 'rocky patch' hit the headlines when David was seen looking angry as he escorted his wife from her Dover Street fashion store in London after its anniversary party.

Though an insider reassured The Daily Mail's Alison Boshoff this week that they're experiencing what any other couple does.

‘The Beckhams’ marriage has always been gossiped about,' explained the source. 'And of course a lot of what is said about them isn’t true.
