'Remember when you broke in?' Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum reveal their close friendship in Gotham magazine

Joseph Gordon-Levitt graced the latest cover of Gotham magazine that features an interview of the actor by his pal Channing Tatum.

The 34-year-old actor looked dapper in a dark blue and green plaid suit on the cover of the October issue of the magazine.

Channing, 35, supplied the questions for Joseph who has been promoting his new movie The Walk based on French high-wire artist Philippe Petit and his 1974 walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

Joseph was asked aobut the 'uniquely interesting' time they've spent together in New York City.

'You mean the time you climbed up the space of my apartment, broke into my house, and surprised me when I was sleeping in order to prove that I should probably take better care to protect myself because if you were ill intentioned you could have murdered me? That time?,' Joseph responded.

'Yes. That is exactly the one,' Channing said.

Joseph was then asked about clowns and what they mean to him.

'Clowns hold up a bizarre, dream-like mirror to real life. They remind you of people in a very abstract way,' Joseph replied.

'My favorite thing to do in New York is walk. More than [going to] any particular theater, restaurant, bar, hotel, or any famous anything, the best thing to do in New York City is just walk out your door and go, and check out all the people.

Because you will see clowns in New York City, whether it’s the aggressive businessman or the drunk on the street who talks to himself; if you stop and listen, you might hear something beautiful or you might hear utter nonsense,' he added.

The actor also answered Channing's question about wire walking as a metaphor.

'When you have a dream [like the one] Philippe had and become obsessed with it—that’s when it’s scary. Because if you don’t do it, you will never accomplish the dream,' he replied.

The Walk directed by Robert Zemeckis is due out in US cinemas on Wednesday.
