The 3:10 To Yuma actor emerged at the event held in the Hotel Bernini Bristol with his face looking fuller, specifically in the cheek area, as he also appears to have gained a bit of weight around his midsection.

He was dressed in a casual chic ensemble including a charcoal grey sports coat over a lighter grey button-down top, relaxed fit blue jeans and black leather trainers.

Foster's hair was also different as his short, blonde locks were spiked up and he sported more of a goatee than his signature scruff for the occasion.

Perhaps the change in physical appearance has to do with the fact that he recently admitted to doping in order to 'infect' himself with former cyclist Armstrong.

In an interview with The Guardian, Foster said he has only 'just recovered physically' from the effects of the drugs he was taking.

However, the Alpha Dog actor would not disclose what specific doping agents he took, saying he did not recommend the practice to fellow actors.

'These are very serious chemicals and they affect your body in real ways,' he explained.

'For my own investigation it was important for me privately to understand it. And they work.'

Foster, who is a practitioner of method acting, has done some intense and bizarre things for roles in the past.

Despite having nothing more than a cameo appearance in Rampart (2011), he lived on the streets and urinated in his pants in preparation to play a homeless veteran.

And for his role in Lone Survivor (2013) he ate dirt in order portray a Navy Seal.

By way of explaining why he went to such great extremes for The Program, he said: 'The word I'm leaning toward is "infected". I tried to infect myself with him. Get him into my system.'

Foster plays the disgraced cyclist in Stephen Frears' film, while Chris O'Dowd plays journalist David Walsh, who was one of the sports writers that uncovered Armstrong's performance-enhancing substance abuse.

The film is based on Walsh's book Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong, which chronicles the journalist's efforts in exposing seven-time Tour de France winner Armstrong for doping in order to win races.

The change in appearance comes just a month after People reported that he and Robin Wright quietly ended their engagement.

According to the weekly, they ended the relationship a few months earlier. Foster and 49-year-old actress Wright first broke up in November 2014 but got back together in January.

The pair met on the set of the 2011 movie Rampart and in early 2012 were seen with each other in Australia.

They got engaged in January 2014 and Wright, who has two adult children with her ex-husband Sean Penn, gushed about her new love shortly afterwards.
